A beautiful intricately carved horse and cart with driver, handmade in Ireland using bog oak (petrified wood) -Bog Oak is recovered from the peaty marshes of Ireland and may have lain undisturbed for almost 7000 years. The dark colour of the wood is formed by the starvation of oxygen and has lovely streaks of grey and golden flecks.
This beautiful piece has moving wheels and the flaps on either side of the cart open out. A wonderful piece of Irish history and a beautiful folk art object.
